The British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) is seeking to appoint a Studio Officer to join the organisation and ensure the smooth running of the BCB Studio, which is a key asset in delivering BCB’s vision and mission.
Our vision: Making change through clay.
Our mission: To develop, sustain and expand innovative ceramics practice and improve lives together with artists and creative communities.
About the Studio Officer role
The Studio Officer will be joining the team of one of the UK’s leading ceramics organisations. This is a new opportunity for an enthusiastic ceramics specialist seeking to use their skills and experience to deliver BCB’s values of being bold, accountable, welcoming, significant, grounded, inclusive, connected and collaborative.
You will work closely with the Studio & Community Programme Manager and Studio Assistant to ensure that the BCB Studio functions effectively and safely as a space dedicated to the exploration of clay and ceramics by numerous visitors and members. You will work alongside a team of freelance BCB Associate Artists, who lead and support on the delivery of projects from the BCB Studio and at external venues. The BCB Studio is the hub of the engagement programme, and together with the Studio Assistant, you will ensure that this is an accessible, welcoming and user-friendly space.
Having a proven track record of successfully working within a ceramics studio, either in a professional context or as a practising artist, you will be confident in ceramic processes. These could include kiln firing, managing materials, such as clay and raw glaze materials and maintaining equipment. You will work closely with our studio members and will be their main point of contact regarding the open studio membership.
