Experimental Brick Making
Free
Artist: Tom Longdon
Join us at The Lodge in the China Hall with artist Tom Longdon who will be leading an exciting drop-in workshop of brick making. Tom is inviting visitors of all clay experiences, from no experience to the skilled potter, to join him in creating bricks using simple but experimental processes.
The Lodge is a project space where festival visitors are invited to reflect, record and share their views, perspectives and responses. Located in curious spaces, there are writing nooks, test workshops, listening stations, and viewing points for film commissions ‘Over Site’ and ‘In Site’, where audiences interact, create and share with others. As a test bed for audience engagement the Lodge will take place in four evolving iterations as part of the expanded BCB programme.
This workshop is made connection with the exhibition Resonating Spaces at Middleport Pottery created by Helen Felcey, Joe Hartley, Guillaume Dujat and members from Burslem Jubilee project. Tom will take participants through the experimental processes in making and pressing brick forms using wooden blocks which gives participants the chance to add their unique flare to the brick.
This workshop takes place in The China Hall (open 10am – 5pm) with drop in sessions running from 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm, Sat 28th & Sun 29th September.
