Exhibition opportunities with BCB
There are a few different exhibition opportunities available with BCB. We work with local, national and international artists through different ways.
Exhibitions
Often exhibiting artists will begin working with us as exhibitors in one or both of our headline exhibitions Award and Fresh. We begin to build relationships with artists through these platform exhibitions. Our next call out for Award will be summer 2024.

If you are an early career artist based in the UK and have been working with clay between 3 and 7 years, you may be eligible for Fresh. Our next call out for Fresh will be spring 2025.

Commissions
We commission artists for specific projects or exhibitions in two ways:
- Open call – We will advertise an opportunity and either ask for applications including a proposal or an expression of interest.
- Direct Approach – We approach artists who’s practice and professional experience has resonance with a project or idea we are seeking to develop. We sometimes ask other organisations to recommend artists that may fall outside of our network or specialism.
International Projects
We work with international partners in creating exhibition opportunities for artists. This can take place as an international exchange between the UK and the place or country our partner works in. We select artists for international projects by inviting proposals, expressions of interest or by approaching artists.

While we often aren’t able to respond to project or exhibition inquiries due to budget and staff capacity constraints we may be able to signpost artists to other organisations or provide feedback on your project.
