Head of Department – Art & Design, Staffordshire University
Hugh Williamson is Head Of Department for the Art & Design subjects in the School of Digital, Technologies and Arts at Staffordshire University. He has an industry background as both an industrial designer and a car designer. Hugh has held a number of teaching posts in the UK, teaching on the Transport Design, Product Design and Design Engineering courses at both Staffordshire University and Coventry University. He has also lectured at Cranfield Institute of Technology, Loughborough and Warwick Universities.
In 1997 he moved to Staffordshire University to teach Product Design, and in 1999 became the Course Leader for that course and subsequently developed BA Transport Design He has helped maintain and develop new links with industry and sees this as a vital and enriching part of the provision. For 6 years Hugh was the Academic Link Tutor for franchised Art & Design courses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. More recently, as Head of Department, he was instrumental in the development of a new provision in Architecture.
