About the Recast Film 2023
The Recast Film was created by acclaimed filmmaker, Thomas Payton-Greene using footage captured during the Recast Residency 2023. Featuring accounts from the recovery artists, the project lead artists and those that work on the project, the film conveys the experience of those involved in a warm and genuine way.
More about Recast
The Recast programme combines creativity, addiction recovery and clay. It’s a collaboration between BCB (British Ceramics Biennial) and Stoke Recovery Service that’s been running since 2017. Each week, members of the service take part in weekly clay workshops led by a BCB associate artist. These occur in 8-week blocks at Stoke Recovery Service HQ. Following these weekly workshops, members of the groups are invited to spend four days on an artist residency at Spode Works. We then celebrate and share this work at public events and exhibitions.
Recast has support from The Rayne Foundation and The Community Foundation for Staffordshire as part of the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme round one grants supported by North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and Midlands Partnership University Foundation Trust.
