British Ceramics Biennial launches online creative learning programme

The British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) announces the launch of a new online creative learning programme to get people to experiment and engage with clay at home. The programme includes hands-on activities, podcast interviews with artists and social networking events.
To coincide with the Easter holidays, the first online demonstration launches on Wednesday 15 April, with a making activity taken from BCB’s Clay Cookbook. Other highlights include a recipe for a clay alternative for those who don’t have access to the material in their homes, and a science experiment inspired by the history of penicillin.
BCB, which runs a major international arts festival in Stoke-on-Trent alongside an ongoing programme of education and community engagement projects in the city, has created this new digital resource in response to the current health crisis. Content will be released over the coming weeks, including activities to support children’s home learning from BCB’s CLAY School programme and led by the CLAY School Programme Manager, Natalie Armitage.

The current health crisis means we’ve had to re-think how we do this and come up with creative ways of continuing our work in the city and beyond.
