#ArtOpp ‘Terms and Conditions: Experiments in Clay’

Calling all Stoke-on-Trent bakers, barbers, dressmakers, carpenters, ceramicists and many more! AirSpace Gallery and The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery are looking to work with you for a major project that will take place during the BCB festival 2019!

‘TERMS AND CONDITIONS: propositions in clay’, is a residency and exhibition of new works by Dunhill and O’Brien at the Airspace Gallery and Gladstone Pottery Museum, Stoke on Trent. Working with a min of 4 tons of clay we will adopt a performative and participatory approach that foregrounds the physicality of the material, its processes, history and relationship to the region. Informed by research and interactions with special interest groups, participants and audience, this project uses the gallery and GPM as sites for a residency, workshops, talks and presentation of ambitious new artworks during the period of the British Ceramic Biennale.

With input from the Airspace Gallery, Gladstone Pottery Museum and British Ceramics Biennial, we will approach and invite expressions of interest from individuals to engage as participants in the project. We are seeking up to 12 individuals from Stoke on Trent, and its environs, who have developed specialist hand skills from their different trades, occupations and hobbies to work with us. We look forward to working with local barbers, plasterers, masseurs, carpenters, tailors, bakers, boulderers, milliners and, of course, potters to learn about their particular experience and understanding of making, working and thinking in 3 dimensions.
