#ClayAtHome Cast of Thousands

For this video, we’re looking to the Cast of Thousands figures for inspiration in our Make Your Superhero activity.

Cast of Thousands was initially launched through BCB’s Clay School programme to work with schools in Stoke-on-Trent to create thousands of figures – to represent every schoolchild within the city. These figures were then displayed across the four sites of the 2019 British Ceramics Biennial Festival.

Now, you can join the mass-making project and create your own superhero figure. Think about who is important to you, who has helped you, and who you want to celebrate. This video demonstrates how to make a basic figure with simple model-making techniques using clay or a salt dough alternative. Download the worksheet for instructions and a template to draw out your figure, then let your imagination go wild.

Watch our Salt Dough video for instructions on how to make a clay alternative.
